Are You Setting Your Child On The Path To Success

In order to set your child on the path toward success, you have to provide them with a map and light the way. Children who are on the path toward becoming successful aren't there on accident. You play a huge part in launching them off in the right direction, so being intentional with the choices you make is crucial.
Here are five ways to set your child on that path toward success.

1. Define success.
Success is not reducible to the rewards that come as a result. Rather, it's found in the triumph that is performing at your highest capacity. If you achieve in any of your endeavors, rewards will come. But it's important to provide for your child a clear definition of what counts as success.

2. Envision the finish line.
It's important for your child to visualize the end result. As they develop educational and career goals, provide them examples that they can relate to. This is especially important for children from marginalized or minority groups. Present examples of female doctors, African-American lawyers and Latino engineers. By seeing success in action, they'll believe that they can go for what they want, too.

3. Teach them to believe.
Your child has to believe they can achieve success. Children on the path toward success tend to have an unwavering confidence in themselves. Research suggests believing in yourself and staying in a positive state of mind improves health, work habits, and overall performance. When students know exactly what they want, how to obtain it, and can express this with conviction derived from a sense of self worth, they are more likely to accomplish their goals. This may manifest itself in unrealistic, immature goals at a young age, but it's perfectly normal. What is important is that they know how to dream big. Encourage this mentality and allow them to explore these ideas.

4. Value learning.
Don't settle for the educational trajectory that the general public sets –– graduate high school, go to college, get a job. Many young adults use this template as a crutch and willingly put a stop to their own learning as soon as they are allowed. We have to provide a different paradigm for learning. Children who are bound for success constantly seek out new things to learn and master –– a second or third language, a technical skill, an individual sport or an instrument. Successful children become successful adults by remaining lifelong students.

5. Allow mistakes.
Wanting your child to be successful is great, but teaching them that the path toward success will be filled with potholes, hurdles, barbed wire and booby traps is key to their understanding that failure is part of the process. Success won’t come easy, and it shouldn’t.

3 Reasons Why Introverts Should Date Extroverts

It’s like having a cake with the icing on it. The introvert is the cake, the extrovert is the icing. Here are 3 reasons why introverts should date extroverts

1. BECAUSE THEY CAN LEARN LOADS OF STUFF FROM EACH OTHER: Introverts are energized by spending time with themselves. They prefer one-on-one conversations that are more meaningful and connects with their soul. Extroverts are energized by large crowds and are usually the life of the party. They’re not thinking too much about their words or actions but just go with the flow and enjoy the company of anyone and everyone they meet. They’re spontaneous and fun loving. The introvert can encourage the extrovert to keep his/her energies in balance and to look within, while an extrovert can encourage an introvert to step outside their comfort zone and meet more people. By helping each other step outside their comfort zones in day-to-day life, they can become best friends and grow as individuals and as a couple. It can be a very fulfilling experience!

2. BECAUSE THEIR PERSONALITY COMPLIMENTS EACH OTHER : Introverts derive deep insights from their sharp observation skills. They’re more truthful and can see things as they really are. Extroverts are more conversational and derive their insights from talking to other people. They also feel good when they shout out to the world and showcase their achievements and pump up the things they’re proud of. An introvert can help the extrovert see new possibilities. With their truthful observations, they can open an extrovert’s eyes and mind to things they never saw before. On the other hand, an extrovert can help introverts with making new connections with new people, and also help them showcase some of their achievements. By helping introverts come in the limelight with a friendly and warm approach, extroverts can win the hearts of introverts quite easily.
The key thing to note is a mutual understanding through an honest dialogue between both the introvert and the extrovert. If they are honest with each other and accept each other’s strengths and weaknesses and try to fill the gaps in the relationship, they can be an unstoppable force together. Their needs and expectations are quite different, but if they get one another and remain loyal to each other, they can be a winning couple!

3. THEY BRING EACH OTHER UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCES: It’s true. extroverts are almost always focused on the outside. Their attention is more on what’s visible to their eyes. They love their senses to be fully stimulated by the environment around them, and rarely look within themselves for energy. They live life from the ‘outside in’ which basically means they’ll see what happens around them and pursue what attracts them. Introverts, on the other hand, are ‘internally stimulated’. They like to understand the why behind what they see. They live life from the ‘inside out’ which means they try and manifest in the outside world what they know for themselves to be true from within. Coming together as a couple, if the two agree to complement each other’s strengths, it can make a power combination. The introvert works on the deeper side of their pursuits, while the extrovert works on making it all look good and manages the outside relationships, the socializing, and the surface. Both are important qualities!

7 Tips For Skincare This Year

Have you ever felt ashamed due to your withered skin complexion while meeting up with your best ones? Your skin’s appearance pretty much sums up what’s going on inside your body. Being the largest organ, your skin deserves proper treatment and care. By following some simple routines, you can maintain a radiant and clear skin texture.

1. DONT OVERDRY YOUR SKIN: Applying super drying products to your skin will eventually hamper it. Avoid alcohol-based astringents and moisturizers immediately after washing, it is a better choice.

2. REGULARLY WASH YOUR FACE: Wash your face, at least once, in the morning and before you go to sleep. You can use a facial cleanser of your choice to clean your skin surface. Cleansers helps you to remove some dark spots that could have arisen from sun burn or exposure to polluted surroundings. Although most people feel lazy about cleansing their skin before going to bed, it has significant effects on your skin tone.

3. MAKE YOUR OWN SKIN PRODUCTS: By properly gathering your kitchen ingredients, you can come up with your own beauty products that are more natural with negligible side effects. It can save you a lot of money.
The kitchen ingredients—olive oil, coconut oil, lemon, sugar, cucumber—can be used with ease by anyone. Coconut oil acts as a moisturizer when you apply to your skin. Cucumber, can be used to clean your skin before applying a specific paste to your complexion.

4. STOP SELECTING POOR SKIN PRODUCTS: Apply lotion to your skin based on its condition and complexion. Bad makeup and lotions can hamper your skin, giving a number of dark spots and bumps. You should choose the lotion while considering what sort of ingredients it possesses. You must avoid some of the brands which embed harmful chemicals such as Paraben, Phthalates, Propylene glycol, and Sodium lauryl sulfate. These harmful chemicals usually enter your bloodstream through your skin, causing serious problems which eventually lead to cancer. Choosing lotions based on the ingredients listed would resolve this problem

5. GET DRUNK ON WATER: What else can be the easiest way to maintain your skin condition than drinking enough water? Without plenty of water quenching your thirst, you would get hydrated. If you seldom drink water, then the condition could be worse regarding what is happening to your skin tone. When you don’t drink enough water, the moisture from your skin is often sucked into your body, in order to fulfil other functional duties. As a result, your skin dries out, and is left with small spots and tiny contort.

6. EXFOILATE : You wouldn’t bother to throw out the dead cells layering on the surface of your skin. They act like a barrier that prevents vital products like vitamins and lotions from moving past the surface. This ultimately slows down the road to skin enhancement. So, exfoliate!
There are various methods that can be carried out to wipe out dark spots, like using an enzyme or other acid based cleanser. Before applying any lotion, make sure to exfoliating your skin.

7. GET ENOUGH SLEEP: Adequate sleep not only enhances your mental and physical condition, but also impacts your usual appearance. Tiny wrinkles will start arising under your eyes with your erratic sleeping practices. Normally, adults need 8 hours of sleep while a recent study among a group of teens revealed the need of around 8-10 hours of proper sleep. Try to get some good sleep if you haven’t. Surely, you would find certain changes in your normal appearance.

7 Things I Hope You Do This Year

In this new year, I hope you do things that challenge you.
That trip you have been dying to take, that side job you know will push your limits, or that coffee date with a loved one you haven’t seen in years. I hope you do things that frighten you, like kiss the person who makes your heart flutter, or send that risky text, or reach out to an old friend and repair a broken relationship. It is in these hard moments that you grow the most, that you strengthen your heart, that you learn who you are and who you wish to become. So I hope you decide to challenge yourself in this new year. Your mind and your body are more powerful than you think.

In this new year, I hope you say yes.
Say yes to that date, say yes to that slice of chocolate cheesecake, say yes to that girls’ weekend in Las Vegas or the boys’ softball tournament in the city. Say yes to that new project at work. Say yes to something you never thought you would. Say yes to something that’s probably going to end up terribly, but is still worth it for the experience and the lessons. Say yes because yes gives you opportunities. Say yes because saying yes is infinitely better than wondering what could have happened.

In this new year, I hope you let go.
I hope you stop holding onto people that have hurt you, or negative memories. I hope you learn to forgive those who have wronged you and try to see the good side in every situation, even if it looks like there isn’t one. I hope you take a deep breath, then exhale all that isn’t building you, strengthening you, or helping you become something better. In this new year, I hope you learn to heal. Because you deserve that.

In this new year, I hope you go after what you want.
Life is too short to wonder what could have been, or to waste time chasing the wrong things. If it’s a job you want or a person you love, if it’s a future you’ve believed in or a dream you’ve been craving, go after it , fully and completely. I hope this year is one for selfish pursuits and confidence. I hope that all that you take steps forward where you were hesitant. I hope you stop holding back.

In this new year, I hope you are fearless.
I hope you stop second-guessing and questioning your decisions. I hope you stop wondering ‘what if’ and playing it safe. I hope you always use your head, but I hope you follow your heart, too. I hope you stop overthinking and analyzing all the results and instead just go forward. I hope you learn that fear is holding you back from who you could be, and you don’t allow it to anymore.

In this new year, I hope you smile.
I hope you stop hanging onto negativity or letting darkness cloud your skies. I hope you find reasons to be happy, big or small, and carry those with you wherever you go. I hope you stop worrying about things you can’t control or people you can’t change. I hope you speak words of kindness to yourself and to others. In this new year, I hope you’re happier.

In this new year, I hope you live louder.
I hope you laugh more. I hope you sing at the top of your lungs. I hope you drive with the windows down and let the wind rustle through your hair. I hope you hug. I hope you kiss. I hope you surround yourself with people who make you feel alive. I hope you become the type of person that brings good energy wherever you go, and the type of person people want to be around. I hope you speak what’s on your mind, that you raise your voice for injustice, that you tell others that you love them, instead of waiting until it’s too late. I hope you live louder, shine brighter. This is your year.

Need or Feed- II

Are you getting the same amount of support you give?
If you constantly put effort for another person without them putting work into you as well, you’re traveling down a one-way street that will get you nowhere.
According to Dr. Karyn Hall, Ph.D., if you are always looking to please your partner without your own fulfillment or put more time managing their needs and wants than your own, you are acting as a caregiver in the relationship and not as an equal partner.
The danger of being a caregiver instead of an equal is that you will not be able to realistically expect your partner to invest in your happiness, your undertakings, or your motivations.
While you will be fully supportive, you won’t be supported.
The benefits of well invested relationships is actually the subject of the longest running longitudinal study in the world, The Grant Study.
In compiling their data, researchers found that there were two consistent indicators that would predict a person’s longevity. Besides the importance of a happy childhood, the findings also show that supportive relationships are the only tangible way to measuring well-being.
The Grant Study suggests that when you invest in others, they will invest in you and when others invest in you, you invest more fully in life.
Besides finding that having close personal relationships were beneficial, the Harvard-led research project also found that “connecting with and supporting others” gave its subjects even more fulfilment than if they were only receiving support without giving in return.
This means that a healthy relationship really does go both ways.
The instinct to invest in others is a healthy one, but investing in those who invest in you is an even more vital practice to adapt to make every relationship into a two-way street.
That’s a much better way to travel down the road of life.
