Natural supplements for depression and anxiety- II

Let’s get straight in to Part 2 of Natural Supplements for Depression and Anxiety because there’s quite a lot to cover! If you haven’t read Part 1, I strongly suggest you do, it’s a good introduction to some of the topics I’m going to discuss here which will include:

The Toll Modern Life Takes On Our Mental Health
Our current era is a breeding ground for conditions like depression and anxiety. It seems there’s a big price tag that comes with life in a so-called modern-society! The more we get, the more we want and Wednesday won’t do, we want it NOW!!

We are fast becoming self-perpetuated zombies swinging between overstimulation (gossip, gaming, coffee, drugs, etc.) and unconsciousness (reality TV, alcohol, prescription drugs like Oxycodone etc.). Our superficial ego is regularly indulged with a daily dose of selfies and a fakeness that would freak out any sane spectator!

We long to keep up with the Kardashians if only our debts and deficits weren’t spiralling out of control. And who cares if it’s not reality, if it feels good… just do it!

The demands of life are becoming greater and greater at the cost of our sanity and self-worth. And when all is said and done, it takes it’s toll on our mental health. We are left burned out and gravely disappointed!

I love how clinical psychologist Bruce E. Levine, PhD puts it:
“A June 2013 Gallup poll revealed that 70% of Americans hate their jobs or have “checked out” of them. Life may or may not suck any more than it did a generation ago, but our belief in “progress” has increased expectations that life should be more satisfying, resulting in mass disappointment. For many of us, society has become increasingly alienating, isolating and insane, and earning a buck means more degrees, compliance, ass-kissing, shit-eating, and inauthenticity. So, we want to rebel.

However, many of us feel hopeless about the possibility of either our own escape from societal oppression or that political activism can create societal change. So, many of us, especially young Americans, rebel by what is commonly called mental illness. We are working longer and being paid less. Instead of a touch, we send a text. Email is the new chinwag and stress, struggle and juggle…the new way of life!
It’s no wonder mental illness is on the rise!

To be continued...

Be Blessed, Stay Beautiful♥
